Short pig nose? Let's take a look at ID Short Nose Correction!

Short nose? No problem!

Short nose rhinoplasty is seen as one of the most complex rhinoplasty procedures. Even the most skilled rhinoplasty surgeons may face great difficulty when dealing with a short nose case. Correcting this type of deformity generally involves skin, internal lining, and skeletal support.

On average, if the nose length is less than one-third of the face length, the the nose may be considered short in comparison to the other facial features.

So what's ID Hospital's Solution?

Not only is is important to find a rhinoplasty specialist, but it is important to find and rhinoplasty surgeon who is skilled at this intricate surgery. Unlike normal rhinoplasty, short nose rhinoplasty require delicate precision handwork allwhile having a  thorough understanding of how much fat and skin tissue as well as skeletal support needs to be corrected. At ID Hospital, our doctors have specialized in their field for over 20 years, so we not only can offer the best result, but your complete safety during surgery.

Different surgical methods

1. Repositioning of the cartilage
If the tip appears to be raised upward, then the cartilage in the nose tip can be removed, cut, and repositioned so that the tip appears longer. After the cartilage grafts have been repositioned, they will be fastened together and fixated downwards to give the nose tip a longer appeal.

2. Septal Cartilage / Ear cartilage
The septal cartilage is a very hard and firm cartilage located in the inside of the nose. This cartilage is extremely durable and can be partially removed and transplanted to the tip of the nose to add length or give it the strength it needs to lift it up.
However in the case of septal cartilage deficiency, then cartilage from the ear may be extracted and used instead. The ear cartilage is sufficent, but not as strong as the septal cartilage.

3. Donated cartilage
It's actually not as bad as it sounds! Utilization of a donated cartilage is especially common in Asia. This is because most patients of Asian descent tend to lack the cartilage we need to correct a short nose. Cartilage will be harvested and thoroughly sterilized then grafted into the patient's nose tip. This is generally the most effective way in lengthening a short nose.
